Maschine is a generative series by Harm van den Dorpel exploring the aesthetics of the stroboscopic effect, a visual phenomenon that occurs through continuous rotations or cyclic motion. The project  displays an evolution in Dorpel’s creative process as it’s his first time he’s developed a 3D generative system. Additionally, Dorpel created his first ever custom neural network to help curate the selection of variations based on his artistic preferences. Utilizing a WebGL script, every artwork produced is designed to be seamlessly displayed in web browsers, presenting a captivating display of rotating radial formations at different velocities that users can rotate and zoom into. The project was brought to life through the help of collaborative efforts between FingerprintsDAO, Mercedes-Benz NXT, and Harm van den Dorpel. With their rich history of craftsmanship and design excellence, Mercedes-Benz showcases an exemplary way for traditional brands to adopt the ever-growing digital space.
