Fahad Karim
Fahad Karim is a South Asian new media artist who has lived a nomadic life across Switzerland, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, the Philippines, Mexico and the United States.
Using technology as his medium, Karim builds systems that explore and examine human culture in a dynamic, contemporary context. His work often reimagines tradition through automation, engaging themes such as architecture, folklore, our relationship with technology and the passage of time. Karim's practice is grounded in a continuously evolving set of tools, including custom-built code-based systems, generative AI, machine plotters and blockchains.
Karim studied computer science at Cornell University, and his work has been collected and exhibited internationally, including by Sotheby's, Christie’s London, Zona Maco (CDMX), Art Blocks Curated (Season 8) and Bright Moments Gallery (CDMX & Venice). In 2023, he was shortlisted for the Lumen Prize for Pohualli, an Aztec-inspired project.
