Geoff Davis
Geoff Davis is a generative artist who helped pioneer computer art through the founding of the Micro Arts Group in 1984. Inspired by London's experimental film and video scene, Davis aimed to democratize computer art by creating and distributing a series of computer-generated conceptual art and story text generators on data cassettes and Prestel TV Teletext.
Davis has also contributed to the advancement of ethical AI as a researcher at the University of the Arts London (UAL), where he explores the responsible use of generated text. His multifaceted career includes roles at the UK's innovation trust Nesta, eco-conscious building development and co-founding the Sustainable Development Commission (SDC). His fiction has also been recognized by PEN International.
In 2019, Micro Arts was revived by the Computer Arts Archive, leading to a series of exhibitions further progressing their influential work.
