Biography
Ryan Murdock is an artist and machine learning researcher focused on multimodal generative systems. He authored the popular open-source BigSleep notebook and pioneered the approach of combining VQGAN and CLIP. Murdock’s foundational work on early CLIP text-to-image Colab notebooks helped usher in the text-to-image art scene and subsequent industry developments. His work has been featured in global press including The New Yorker, Vice and Vox.
With research interests spanning machine learning, psychology, materials informatics, cognitive science and art, Murdock brings a cross-disciplinary mindset and approach to his practice.
