Sarah Meyohas
Sarah Meyohas is a conceptual artist whose work explores the role and potential of emerging technologies in contemporary society. Drawing on familiar symbols of biological life, she explores complex systems that shape our world: augmented-reality birds soar in sync with the volatile movements of the stock market; rose petals—uniform as a group yet singular in form—serve as the dataset for their AI-generated counterparts; and Bitchcoin, a cryptocurrency backed by physical artworks, probes both the speculative value of digital currencies and the intangible value of art. Through her practice, Meyohas crafts a lucid visual language to make sense of the increasingly influential systems and technologies that define our age.
Meyohas has been exhibited in New York at Red Bull Arts, 303 Gallery, Rockefeller Center, and the New Museum of Contemporary Art and internationally at institutions including the Barbican Centre, London, the Jameel Arts Center, Dubai and the Ming Contemporary Art Museum, Shanghai. She has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Vice and Artforum.
