Biography

Leonardo Solaas is a new media artist, writer and teacher from Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has been exploring the creative potential of code since the early 2000s, with a particular focus on generative systems. Over the years, his work has taken many forms, including static images, video, net art, interactive installations, games, social networks, hand-made objects and, more recently, NFTs.

Solaas has received the IBM Media Art Award (Germany), the Premio Mamba–Fundación Telefónica (Argentina) and production grants from Medialab Prado (Spain), Fundación Telefónica (Argentina), Turbulence.org (USA) and the Fondo Nacional de las Artes (Argentina). His work has been exhibited in group and solo shows across South America, Mexico, the United States and Europe.

In 2023, he was selected as one of the artists of the Buenos Aires Collection by Bright Moments. In addition to his artistic practice, Solaas thinks, writes and teaches about subjects at the intersection of art, technology, design and philosophy. He is currently a professor in the Maestría en Diseño Interactivo at the Universidad de Buenos Aires.
